Upcoming Holiday Season Opening Hours

We're approaching the holiday season, which means public holidays and office and department closures.

If you're applying for a visa in the next few weeks, don't forget to prepare your application as soon as possible and submit it before the Christmas/New Year period.

This includes ensuring your passport(s) are valid and that you've obtained police clearance certificates, as well as medical and chest x-ray certificates, as soon as possible, if required.

Please be mindful of the holiday closing/opening hours of other government departments, including those in your home country. Obtaining official personal documents can be slow and, in some cases, nearly impossible during the holiday season in some countries/jurisdictions. 

Immigration Holiday Opening Hours

Immigration New Zealand will be open for business as usual during the holiday period with skeleton staff, but will be closed on the following New Zealand statutory holidays:

• 25 and 26 December

• 1 and 2 January

Immigration will still process applications during the Holiday period, including sending requests for additional information or letters of concern, although they do provide longer response times during this period.
